I've heard rumor that the surf in the north western region of Italy (where I live) is pretty good this time of year... so this morning I woke up, hopped in the car, drove to Viareggio and followed the coast up towards Forte Dei Marmi hoping to find some waves...  Unfortunately it was a little too small and pretty choppy. But what seemed to be an unsuccessful mission at first ended up being on of the best days I've had in a while!
I stopped to grab lunch in Forte Dei Marmi and ended up staying allllllll day...
Forte Dei Marmi reminds me of a little Miami...  The beach is endless... the shopping... out of this world!

Such a fun town to just spend the day in and explore...

Posted up in my new favorite coffee shop.

Playing around with my snapshot camera.

And I have a new reciepe for you!

Insalata, strawberries, goat cheese with pine nuts. (I make this salad every day now thank you Connie)
And grilled salmon in olive oil.

That was my dinner. :)

FYI I started this blog to update my family on all my travels but every time I check in on my stats it still blows me away!!! So to everyone reading this blog, Thank You!
I'll try and update more for you guys. :)

Diet starts tomorrow...

At least that's what I've been telling myself since the day I got here but the food is just out just too good! I can't sit down at a restaurant without ordering a least, soup, pasta, a bottle of wine, desert and... caffe affogato!!
Here's a few of my favorites:

Paltti di Salumi e Formaggi from GiGi.

Pizza from Drogheria.

Cappuccino's

Maria Teresa- a mix of 4 different types of red wine.

Pasta pomodoro with sauteed mushrooms- me ;)

Hot Chocolate from Turandot

Fortunately, I've been doing my fare share of exercise lately. I decided to start taking Italian lessons so I've been riding my bike down into town every day of the week for class.

Terme Di Saturnia

This weekend we decided to drive 300 km south to Maremma for one very, very relaxing weekend!! We arrived Saturday evening for Max Lelli's Grand Fondo Presentation dinner. I met some really great people, ate amazing food and drank my fair share of Max's incredible homemade wine!

We stayed at the Terme Di Saturnia Resort where I spent all Sunday taking advantage of the endless thermal pools and saunas. There is no question as to why that place was voted 2011's best spa in Europe. That was the ultimate weekend get-away experience and it surely won't be my last visit there!

What should have been a 3 1/2 hour drive, I was able to make in 2. :)

One of the thermal pools...
